The Eucharistic Adoration Chapel in the historic St. Joseph’s Oratory opened with a 4:00 pm solemn Mass on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the university chapel. This was the vigil Mass of the Feast of the Ascension where the Sacred Host was consecrated for use in the Oratory. At the completion of Mass, the Sacred Host was transferred to St. Joseph’s Oratory in a solemn procession with Rev. Ross Chamberland, OFM carrying the monstrance under a baldacchino (traditional canopy). In the Oratory, the Sacred Host was placed in the new glass tabernacle located in the center of the renovated space which was blessed and officially opened for Eucharistic Adoration. Participants at the opening blessing included students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of St. Bonaventure University including its president, Sr. Margaret Carney, OSF, and priests/parishioners from Olean’s St. Mary of the Angels church, including the Vicar Forane for the region for the Diocese of Buffalo, Rev. Gregory Dobson.
